The weather has finally broken for good (I think) and there was some outside painting done this week. This is actually just primer but it's pretty much the same as the final colors.
The primer is making it look so much cleaner and brighter. We had lots of passers-by checking it out. Tom and Jim have been plugging along in the new bathroom. Craig tried out his new special pooping place too. He seemed to fit in there nicely. This is probably where he will spend most of his time once we move in.
And speaking of Jim, I got to sneak a picture of him when he wasn't looking!
Jim, the most awesome contractor! Even though he is a Republican and listens to Rush Limbaugh in my house-to-be. I will have to have an exorcism performed before I can live there!
And here's a neat little flyer that was found in the dining room:
Next week the kitchen walls will get finished and the vanity for the new bathroom will get delivered. Some of the landscaping will get put in too, if everything goes as planned and the weather cooperates. Until next week...

New Kitchen Cabinets and Door Glass
We had a couple of exciting deliveries this week! The kitchen cabinets arrived and are awaiting assembly!
We got to see the dining room fireplace for the first time this week. It's been covered with sheet rock and materials. I think it's pretty cool.
The front door glass arrived and was installed. It is absolutely fantastic.
I think it makes the purple look even better! I can't wait until the whole thing is painted. We also got the house number plaque. I can't wait until Jim sees this!
The priming is starting. Jim would not allow me to take his picture. I will definitely sneak one when he's not looking!
The walls are going up in the kitchen.
The bathtub was installed this week too.
Ruby got to go visit the new house too for the first time. We stopped at the neighborhood Whitney dog park and she had a great time making new friends. But it still is not the same without Maggie!
After the park, we stopped for some lunch at Station Street Hot Dogs in East Liberty. Ruby had her own hot dog and was waiting for a few fries to be thrown her way!

New Windows!
Another week has gone by and the plumbing and electric inspections were a success! Now things can really move at full speed ahead. The glass block windows in the basement were put in yesterday while we were there and they look great. South Hills Glass Block did a beautiful job!
The water proofing in the master shower was done yesterday. The pink is actually liquid plastic. Once it dries it turns red and is a waterproof barrier. Pretty cool!
The top of the window was installed and it looks fantastic!
Jim got the paint for the house. He absolutely HATES my choice of grape for the accent color. I have found that most men have a big problem with the color purple. Why is that? I think it looks so cool. All the guys on the job hate the purple. I have one that says he wants to see it with the gray trim colors before he makes his decision. Here is the door painted with the color, and the door will be mostly glass so it's not a lot of purple. The color here is actually lighter than the actual color. It's much more grape than what shows up here.
They were scraping yesterday so hopefully we'll get to see more color outside next week. Once that's done we'll get to do some landscaping. I have visions of lots of flowers and great colors! I've started some seedlings so they'll be ready next month. Zinnias, Love Lies Bleeding, Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate, Peonies, are a few. Can't wait!
